Duchess is an Alaskan Wolf. In her previous home, she was quite the escape artist!! She was purchased as a pet but her family found it quite difficult to contain her safely. While evading containment, Duchess would dine on neighborhood chickens. THAT did not go over well and she was not making too many friends on the “block”. Her family was warned about her behavior and informed of the likelihood of her confiscation and euthanization. Reportedly, the family, looking out for Duchess, placed her with a sanctuary where she was immediately placed in a pack!! THAT did not go over well either and Duchess found herself not understanding the wolf rules and hierarchy. Rebel that she was, the pack took it upon themselves to teach and discipline her resulting in a severe attack and her eventual removal.

She arrived at St. Francis Wolf Sanctuary with her “opinionated”, rebel self completely intact. She is quite selective in her “inner” circle preferring to be doted on by the human males! Duchess will be quite vocal about her likes and dislikes!! Did we mention memory yet?? Well, Duchess has excellent memory and she remembers who has been “naughty or nice” to her!! WE definitely respect her space and keep our eyes on her when interacting with THE DUCHESS!!
