Wolves like to have a companion. Mystery was alone, and although attempts were made with three other wolves to find a partner, they were unsuccessful. Jean visited a Native American wolf rescuer she had met previously when he was called to intercede on behalf of some wolves in a refuge that had been closed. St. Francis Wolf Sanctuary was able to take several of them and was invited to visit his wolf refuge.

That is where she met Yoda, a very large and a very handsome wolf. There seemed to be a match for Mystery in this handsome young wolf!!! And thus began the process to introduce the two wolves. As usual, they were introduced by putting the new guy in the chute and letting them exchange comments. They were neither friendly nor aggressive, so the gate was gently opened into the enclosure. Mystery was READY but not for the very formal wolf bow made by Yoda. Paws forward, head down and rear end up. It was a MATCH!!! They are devoted and still play, despite their advancing age.

His rescuer described Yoda as having been one of the worst cruelty cases he had ever encountered. The magic of the sanctuary??? The love, resiliency and the song of the wolves!!!!
